The Glass Menagerie is a community chorus in Greenwich Village, New York City. We are a group of 50 singers, and we give two concerts a year, one in December and one in May. We rehearse during the school year on Thursday evenings.

The 2010–11 Season

We have an exciting 2010-2011 season ahead. In December we will continue our presentation of excerpts from Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana and our women will perform Benjamin Britten’s Ceremony of Carols, with harp accompaniment. May’s concert will be the culmination of our immersion in Orff as we present a full performance of Carmina Burana, with an expanded chorus* and two pianos/percussion.

Last winter’s concert included our first excerpts from Orff’s masterpiece, along with seasonal highlights and our second commissioned work, Flocks Feed by Darkness by New York composer Jonathan David. Our spring 2010 concert, Earthly Delights, took us on a journey through secular pleasures, from Brahms folksongs to Brazilian gems to American settings of 20th-century poets. And of course, more Carmina Burana!

*All singers interested in being a part of our expanded Carmina Burana chorus this spring, please contact us soon. Special rehearsal schedule will be arranged for those who have sung the work before.
