Come make music on Thursday evenings with a joyful, hardworking chorus of 50 singers from all walks of life and levels of experience. Under the direction of noted music director and educator Dr. Susan Glass, The Glass Menagerie — now in its 39th year — presents two concerts a year for a large, loyal, and appreciative audience in beautiful and welcoming Manhattan venues. Our adventurous and eclectic repertoire spans classical masterworks from every era, music rooted in folk and vernacular traditions, and the work of living composers.

Our April 28, 2024, concert is titled The Road Home, and will feature songs that explore the many different aspects of home and what it means to each of us—missing a home, seeking a home, reaching for a heavenly home. The program will include compositions by Verdi, Isaac, and Vaughan Williams, as well as works by contemporary composers Mark Patterson,  Susan Brumfield, Abbie Bettinis, and Rosephanye Powell. A highlight will be "Border," by Rich Campbell.

Rehearsals begin on January 11, 2024, and take place every Thursday during the academic year from 6:30 to 9:00 PM at LREI (Little Red School House/Elisabeth Irwin High School), 272 Sixth Avenue at Bleecker Street, New York, NY 10014.

If you are interested in singing with us this Spring, please join us for our first rehearsal on January 11, 2024. After the rehearsal Susan Glass will audition you. Come see if this is the chorus for you!

To sign up, please complete the webform below. If can’t make the January 11 rehearsal, please complete the sign-up form anyway, and we’ll try to accommodate you.

No audition preparation is necessary, but singers interested in joining us should have some prior choral experience and a basic ability to sight read music. The rehearsal beforehand will give you a good idea of our level and our way of learning.
