Join Our Chorus!

Come make music on Thursday evenings with a joyful, hardworking chorus of 50 singers from all walks of life and levels of experience. Under the direction of noted music director and educator Dr. Susan Glass, The Glass Menagerie — now in its 40th year — presents two concerts a year for a large, loyal, and appreciative audience in beautiful and welcoming Manhattan venues. Our adventurous and eclectic repertoire spans classical masterworks from every era, music rooted in folk and vernacular traditions, and the work of living composers.

Our December 7, 2025 concert, Strings Attached: Music for Chorus and Violin, pairs the chorus with the instrument closest to the human voice—the violin—in partnership with guest artist, violinist Ashley Horne. The program features Eric Whitacre’s Hebrew Love Songs, along with works by Edward Elgar and contemporary composers such as Dan Forrest, Sean Ivory, and Joseph Rubenstein. Our traditional sing-along includes a selection of seasonal favorites.

Rehearsals begin on September 4, 2025, and take place every Thursday during the academic year from 6:30 to 9:00 PM at either LREI - Little Red School House (272 Sixth Avenue at Bleecker Street, New York, NY 10014) or LREI - Elisabeth Irwin High School (40 Charlton St., New York, NY 10014).

If you are interested in singing with us this Fall, please join us for our first rehearsal on September 4, 2024. Susan Glass will audition you during the rehearsal break. Come see if this is the chorus for you! No audition preparation is necessary, but singers interested in joining us should have some prior choral experience and a basic ability to sight read music. The rehearsal beforehand will give you a good idea of our level and our way of learning.

To sign up, please complete the webform below. If can’t make the September 4, 2025 rehearsal, please complete the sign-up form anyway, and we’ll try to accommodate you.
